Being used to be approached with all sorts of request for free samples / sponsorships / co-operation / you-name-it, we have grown to be rather cautious when somebody contacts us and proposes the above. However, when we received a long email with a nice Youtube video from a young Finnish guy, who took a leave of absence from his work, sold his apartment and kissed his girlfriend goodbye for five months firmly determined to fulfill his dreams – traveling around the globe with a fly rod in his hand – we had no other option than to listen what he had to say. We heard about detailed travel plans, remote atolls to be visited and funny looking fish species to be targeted. The whole package was nicely wrapped in a professional usage of various social media forums in order to spread the word about fly fishing in general and saltwater fly fishing in particular. Needless to say, we were very interested, for various reasons, and we shook hands.
